ICAR-CRIJAF, Barrackpore exchanged MoUs and Technology Licensing Agreements during the 98th Foundation Day celebration of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) held at the Bharat Ratna C. Subramaniam Auditorium, NASC Complex, New Delhi on 16 July 2026. The agreements represent a major step towards the commercialization and wider dissemination of ICAR-CRIJAF technologies in the jute and allied fibre sector. Through these partnerships, the institute aims to facilitate the transfer of innovative technologies from laboratory to field and industry. The initiative will contribute to enhancing sustainability, productivity, and the bio-economy based on natural fibres.

ICAR-CRIJAF signs MOU with M/s Shaktigarh Textiles & Industries Ltd. for promoting Jute Fibre Extraction and Processing Technology

In a significant step towards promoting sustainable jute production and strengthening industry–research collaboration, ICAR-CRIJAF signed a MoU with M/s Shaktigarh Textiles & Industries Ltd. for the promotion of improved jute retting using ICAR-CRIJAF's "CRIJAF-SONA". ICAR-CRIJAF observed World Environment Day 2026 on 5 June with a series of activities promoting environmental sustainability and climate-resilient agriculture. The programme included a tree plantation drive at Goaldaha village, North 24 Parganas, a technical seminar on “Wildfires and Crop Residue Burning: Drivers of Environmental Perturbations” by Dr. Deepanjan Majumdar (CSIR-NEERI), and a Sit & Draw Competition on environmental and Khet Bachao Abhiyan themes.

ICAR-CRIJAF organized a one-day Field Day-cum-Demonstration Programme on “Drone-based Insect Pest Management and Foliar Nutrient Application in Jute” at Goaldah village, North 24 Parganas, on 5 June 2026. Dr. Gouranga Kar, Director, ICAR-CRIJAF, interacted with 100 farmers, including 28 women, and emphasized the importance of drone-based precision spraying, balanced nutrient management, green manuring, and integrated pest management (IPM) for improving farm profitability and sustainability. The programme featured a live demonstration of drone-assisted application of Spiromesifen for effective mite management in jute, showcasing the potential of advanced technologies in modern agriculture.
